Food & Community Hub

Experience

Unique Multicultural Cuisine In Melbourne

Food is our connector. It provides culture, memories of home and familiarity.

We created the Food and Community Hub with a vision to be an inclusive,  vibrant space for our community, for neighbouring corporates and like-minded individuals. Centred right in the heart of Docklands, within Collins Square, it’s our home to nurture skill development in a hospitality context, welcome the community to share our love of food and help businesses meet their social procurement goals.

On the menu each day we have Ethiopian Coffee provided by Ageyo Coffee, hot meals, salads, sandwiches & toasties, and to-die-for sweets inspired by, or co-created from recipes from our team members.  Importantly, this cafe supports our employment program, with all proceeds reinvested back into the social enterprise to directly fund training and support services.

Every item on our menu is a reflection of home for our team.  Our meals are Halal-friendly, with vegetarian, vegan and low gluten options available. Please chat to the team to find out more.

We’re also passionate about fighting food insecurity and promoting sustainability. So we take every measure possible to keep food waste to an absolute minimum. Our approach is simple yet impactful – we use every part of the ingredient to its fullest, which is why we rotate our menus frequently and donate any surplus food.

Some examples of what you might find on our menu include:

Chicken Gulgula is thick-cut chicken blended with our secret spice mix which includes garlic, honey, sesame and soy.

Chicken Korma is a classic Indian dish with tender chicken pieces, peas and sweet potato in a mildly spiced curry sauce.

Coco Au Rico is Congolese chicken meatballs with peanut butter and African spices simmered in a rich yellow sauce.

Lamb Zigni is Eritrean braised lamb using our unique berbere spice blend slow cooked in a spicy stew full of flavour.

Moroccan Meatballs are made of beef and vegetables simmered in a rich tomato sauce with a North African spice blend.

Vegetable Jafrezi is another classic Indian dish made with mixed vegetables, spices and herbs in a spicy stir-fry.

In true cafe style, we also have a range of sandwiches, toasties and pides made daily to pair perfectly with your morning cuppa or your afternoon lunch.

Salads are also a favourite at our Hub with our roasted beetroot, carrot and quinoa salad popular with vegetarians, and our marinated chilli tofu with rice noodles, and sumac roasted cauliflower salads popular with vegans.

For A Hot Cup Of Soul-Soothing Socially Responsible Coffee

Every cup of coffee served at our Café comes from farm-to-cup  company, Ageyo Coffee, which takes its name from the Ethiopian hometown of co-founder Daniel Seyoum. The Seyoums have been traditional coffee farmers for generations, and together with wife & co-founder Soliana Seyoum, Daniel has successfully brought truly sustainable coffee to Melbourne.

The Ethiopian coffee bean is known for its fruity and flowery characteristics making it a unique flavour profile in Melbourne. It is harvested through sustainable coffee farming and processed  using natural washing techniques that do not harm the neighbouring environment.
